Parent Spotlight - Lisa Q. Fetterman

Name: Lisa Q. Fetterman Location: San Francisco Occupation: Co-Founder and CEO of Nomiku, it's like nespresso for dinner where you wave food in front of the machine and it automatically cooks for you. Take $25 with the code NOMTRY at checkout! Children (Names, Age): Zech, 5, Mari 22 Months (almost 2!) What brings you joy as a parent? I love it when the kids teach me something new. Seeing the world fresh from their eyes is endlessly fascinating, informative, humbling, and enriching. Of course, I also get to show them my favorite things and get to enjoy them like I never have before--- that's very joyful. What are some of your challenges as a parent? Basically just fighting fatigue and exhaustion. I can't always be "on" for my kids and I worry about them getting me at my worst.  What is the best advice you received or lessons learned as a parent? Just being there for your kids no matter the state I'm in is good! Showing up is important.  How do you practice self care? I see a therapist, get my hair done, take baths, and recently even went to an exercise class. I'm also getting one of those ring fitness trackers to encourage me to get up and get out.

How do you make time for your relationship with your partner? We send each other texts throughout the day. Sometimes we Facetime each other and both leave it on mute in the corner of our monitors so we can pretend we're working together. On Sundays when we're at our wits end we'll beg one of our friends to babysit and walk around the block and play Wizards Unite

Are your parenting styles different than your partners?  How do you manage parenting with your partner? We're pretty aligned when it comes to parenting. It's a real relief. I think I'm maybe a bit more laissez faire and I

How do you spend quality time with your children? I really like to get out of the house and go to the Academy of Science or a structured learning/play place.

What parenting tools work for you and your family? We're loving this Mindful Coaching thang from Fallyn and besides that... uhhhh really going to our respective therapists and asking our friends about situations. Favorite parenting books or resources?  MINDFUL KIDS! Also we love the Danny books. What do you wish for your children? That they can face every fear and feel every emotion fully!
